Also, Lizzie has been fascinated with letters and their sounds the past few days. I sometimes go on a website with free phonics stuff with her, and lately she wants to do that constantly. Which isn't all that unusual, she's always liked it, but now she is repeating the sounds, asking for other words that begin with that letter, really playing the simple games, and actually remembering the letters and sounds afterwards. (She plays the games by telling me what to do, not using the computer herself). And a couple of times she's said things that I just thought were so cool. Yesterday we had this conversation: Lizzie: "What's N sound?" "/n/, like no and night and next." "Like Nana?" And this morning when she got ahold of a large bag of toothpicks and dumped them out: Me: "Here, I'll pull them together into a pile and you put them back into the bag." "Pile? Puh-puh-pile? Puh-puh-P? Pile starts with P like Papa?"
And last but not least, we have a second little mover on our hands. Sadie is transitioning from scootching to crawling, and she's pulling up to stand, just starting to cruise a bit holding on to things, and into everything! She's opening the fireplace doors, opening the drawers of Lizzie's armoire and taking the toys out, pulling books and papers off the bottom two shelves of the bookcases, pulling the muffin tins out of the lower kitchen cupboard, pulling herself up to stand at the open dishwasher and lifting out a heavy glass plate and dropping it on the floor, trying desperately to get at Lizzie's potty chair, pushing it around the bathroom floor when it's closed (turns into a little stool), and look what else she's done:
She got herself stuck like this under the chair I was sitting on! Once she was completely off the ground and hanging by her arms and legs, she couldn't figure out how to go any farther. You can see she was pretty disgruntled at her predicament.
Yikes! This last happened just a couple of hours ago. I thought I was safe letting her push around the cleaned, closed potty chair/stool for a moment while I helped Lizzie. Apparently not!
