Yesterday morning the girls and I were at a thrift store when Lizzie sat on a little chair and fell backwards, hitting her head on a shelf. It was really frightening--there was so much blood. A kind woman who said she was a pediatrician was there in the store, and she helped me to clean it a little and to stop the bleeding before I took her to the hospital. Lizzie had to get eight staples in her head, poor girl. She was so good and still and she didn't even cry, she just held on tight to Daddy's hands while they were washing and stapling it. The doctor gave us a tool kind of like pliers to remove them in ten days.
She is speaking quite well now, and lately she has been trying out a lot of idioms. It is so cute to hear her with her little voice using phrases like "nice and warm", "it's pretty good", and "I guess so" (which is always accompanied by a rather studied-looking shrug).
Elizabeth loves to draw, and she is getting better and better at it. The other day she took a pad and pen and told me she was going to draw eggs, like Mama Hummingbird outside our front door. Can you see the eggs in the nest she drew?
I volunteered to teach a free art class for some of the kids in our ward this summer--mainly because I thought Lizzie would really enjoy it, but we can't afford to buy art supplies like that. So I'm going to be teaching starting this week, and the moms payed for all the art supplies. I'm so excited, I think that Lizzie will love it! She also wrote a letter for the first time when we were in Sedona, all on her own. No picture, though--it was in the shower, and she was writing in the water on the shower door with her finger. She made a vertical line and said, "Letter I" and then added three horizontal lines to make a backwards E and said, "Letter E".

That poor girl... I am glad that there was someone around to help and that she is back to normal.
I always tell everyone: If she can climb it, shinny up it, crawl under it, or bounce on it--that's where you'll find our Lizzie!
Hopefully though-Less Blood and Injury in the future!
